What hotspot changes

The phone becomes the internet connection for another device. The eSIM itself still provides the mobile-data connection, but the laptop or tablet can generate much heavier traffic than typical phone use.

Why data disappears faster

Desktop websites, software updates, cloud sync, video calls and large downloads can burn through several gigabytes quickly. If hotspot is important, a 1GB or 3GB plan may be too restrictive.

Check plan restrictions

Some providers or packages can limit tethering, speed or fair-use behavior. Treat hotspot as supported only when the selected package terms allow it.

A safer setup for work trips

Pause operating-system updates, cloud drives and photo sync on the connected device. For regular remote work or video calls, choose a larger fixed-data allowance rather than planning around the smallest starter plan.

Rule of thumb

If you are connecting a laptop for work, size the plan for the laptop—not for the phone.
